Army Knowledge Online (AKO) * - Direct link to the U.S. Army internet portal. All soldiers - Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard - are required to have an active AKO account. AKO not only provides vital online information and services, such as news, current events, e-mail, instant messenger, chat, discussion forums, and online storage space to all soldiers, it also provides links to many web sites vital to all soldiers and their dependants; to include administrative information, personnel/finance information/records, pay/benefits information, medical/dental care information/records, legal information, training/education opportunities/information/records, as well as career path/promotion information, and MOS/Branch information. In short, anything that a soldier needs to develop professionally, advance in their career, and to be successful - as well as to take care of themselves and their dependants on a personal level - can be found through AKO. Soldiers not taking advantage of what is offered through AKO are cheating themselves and their dependants. Any leader that does not ensure their subordinates are using AKO is cheating their soldiers. Any Black Knight soldier not currently registered with or using AKO should do so ASAP!
AKO Web Mail * - Direct link to access web based AKO e-mail. Once registered with AKO, a soldier automatically has an AKO e-mail account. Any Black Knight soldier that has not given their AKO e-mail address to their Chain of Command and the unit Force Readiness NCO should do so ASAP!
Guard Knowledge Online (GKO) * - Direct link to the National Guard intranet. The GKO web site is complimentary to AKO, for those serving in the National Guard, providing information specific to those serving in the National Guard and their dependants. Information concerning the National Guard, to include administrative information, personnel/finance information, pay/benefits information, medical/dental care information, civilian employment rights/ Employers Supporting the National Guard and Reserve (ESGR) information, training/education opportunities/information, career path/promotion information, as well as various opportunities to serve on Active Duty while serving in the National Guard. In short, anything that a soldier serving in the National Guard needs to develop professionally, advance in their career, and to be successful - as well as to take care of themselves and their dependants on a personal level - can be found through GKO. Soldiers serving in the National Guard and not taking advantage of what is offered through GKO, in addition to AKO, are cheating themselves and their dependants. Any leader within the National Guard that does not ensure their subordinates are using GKO, as well as AKO, is cheating their soldiers. Soldiers must be registered with AKO to access GKO, as the user name and password to allow access to GKO is registered through, and is the same as that used to access AKO.
* Family members of soldiers can be registered and gain access to AKO if sponsored by a soldier. Soldier enlistees, retired soldiers, and Department of the Army civilians can also register and gain access to AKO. Additionally, any family member those serving in the National Guard that has access to AKO also has access to GKO.
